Out of all traditional Russian souvenirs matreshka dolls are the most popular ones. There are some matreshka dolls which contain progressively 20-30 smaller sister - dolls but these matreshkas are very expensive. First time matreshka dolls came into market was the end of the 19th century and at that time they were made only of 8 pieces.
