10-31-2008 On Oct 26 the navigation on the Amur river was closed for passenger boats and on Oct 31 it is closing for border patrol ships. Usually the freezing-over of the Amur occurs from the end of Nov till the beginning of Dec. For 6 months the navigation for passenger, excursion boats and hydrofoils will be stopped till next May when the river becomes free from ice.

10-27-2008 From Aug 25 till Oct 20 the Khabarovsk Krai (Territory) Government and TV-Radio company “Dalnevostochnaya” organized a contest “The 7 wonders of the Khabarovsk Krai” devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Krai. As a result of the krai citizens’ voting the following wonders of the Khabarovsk Krai were chosen: 1) Amur tiger – the largest tiger in the world; 2) Dusse-Alin ridge in the center of the Khabarovsk Krai; 3) Shantar islands in the Okhotsk Sea; 4) Lake Amut, located 60 km north-west of Komsomolsk-on the–Amur; 5) Amur bridge near Khabarovsk; 6) Relict lotuses on the lakes near Khabarovk; 7) Petroglyphs of early neolith in the Nanai village of Sikachi Alyan.

10-22-2008 As Chinese agency Xinhua reports this year the construction of 170 km long railroad starts in 2 eastern counties of the Heilongjiang province of the North-East China. The railroad will connect town Qianjin in the Tongjiang county and the easternmost point of China – the centre of the Fuyuan county. Its construction is supposed to be finished in 1,5-2 years and the total investments in it will make 2,2 milliard yuans (323 million US dollars). Fuyuan is a dynamically developing city-port with the population of 60 thousand people located on the right bank of the border river Amur, 65 km from Khabarovsk. Putting in the operation of this railroad will make it possible to direct freight and passenger trains to Fuyuan from North-East China cities Harbin, Changchun, Shengyang and others. This railroad will play an important role in the further development of trade and tourist relations between China and Russia.

10-20-2008 On Nov 06, Ken Hensley, a hard rock star with the rock band “Live Fire” will give a concert at sport complex “Platinum Arena”. At present Ken is touring around Europe and Russia (Berlin, Minsk, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Blagoveschensk, Volgograd and others). During his time with in the legendary rock band “Uriah Heep” (1969-1980) Ken recorded 13 studio albums as composer and singer (keyboards, guitar, lead and back vocals). He created a lot of hits: “July Morning”, “Lady in Black”, ‘Look at Yourself”, “Easy Livin’”. After “Uriah Heep” Ken worked with bands Blackfoot (1982-1984), Hensley Lawton Band (2000-2001), Free Spirit (2001-2002), Ken Hensley & The Viking All-Stars Band (2003-2005). His Far Eastern part of the world tour includes: Nov' 05 – Vladivostok, “Yellow Submarine” Nov' 06 – Khabarovsk, “Platinum Arena” Nov' 08 – Blagoveschensk, “ Public cultural Centre”.

10-16-2008 On 24-25 Oct the official presentation of a new regional type air liner “Sukhoi Superjet 100” which is produced in Komsomolsk-on the-Amur will take place in Khabarovsk. It is one of the most important events devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Khabarovskyi Krai. which will be celebrated Oct 20. “Sukhoi Superjet 10” is the first civil airplane worked out by the company “Sukhoi” famous in the field of military aviation and manufactured at the aviation plant in Komsomolsk–on the–Amur. A small type plane “Superjet 60” was designed for 68 seats while “Superjet 100” - for 120 seats. The cost of one plane is 28 million US dollars. The first public presentation of a new Russian aircraft “Sukhoi Superjet 100” took place on Sept 26, 2007 in Komsomolsk-on the–Amur. The market volume of “Suhkoi” airplanes will amount to 1200 by the year 2025. The major part of the planes will be exported. The French company “Snecma” which produces air-engines and the Italian company “Alenia” take part in this project.

   Our 3-star "Intourist" Hotel is a ten-story complex for 515 guests contains single rooms, twin rooms and suites. There is a business center, gift shops, barber/beauty parlor, coffee shop, night bar, billiard bar, fitness center and three restaurants of Russian, Japanese and Korean cuisine. Satellite telephone capability makes it possible to place calls to anywhere in the world from the hotel rooms.

   "Intourist" hotel is conveniently located not far from the downtown. All points of interest are also near-by.
