25.04.2018 Khabarovsk Soon to Celebrate Its 160th Anniversary

This year Khabarovsk will celebrate its 160th anniversary. Traditionally main celebrations take place in the end of May – beginning of June.

On the occasion different festive events, like the «Amur Waves» Brass band festival, festive firework on the Amur River promontory, laser show at the City Ponds Park and others, are planned to take place in the city.

Khabarovka, the first military settlement named after a known Russian explorer, Yerofey Khabarov, was founded on the right bank of the Amur River in May 1858. In 1880 it was granted town status and in 1893 renamed into Khabarovsk.  In 1916, the Amur Bridge, connecting two banks of the river, was built, completing the construction of the Russian Trans-Siberian Railway. Thus, Khabarovsk became one of the main transportation hubs in Russia.

The contemporary Khabarovsk is a developing industrial and transportation center of the Far East of Russia, with a population of more than 600 thousand people.
