13.04.2015 Easter celebration in Khabarovsk

On April, 12 all the Russian Orthodox believers started celebrating Easter, a Christian holiday worshiping the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Hundreds of Khabarovsk citizens came to churches on Easter Eve to take part in the Easter procession that started at midnight and was accompanied by festive bells ringing. Then the night church service began. It continued until 3 am. Those who did not sanctify Easter cakes and eggs, were able to do it after the holiday church service.

According to Orthodox tradition, the celebration will last for 40 days. During the week, which is called the Bright Week, the Holy Doors of all the churches will be opened and anyone can climb the church tower and ring the bells in honor of the Christ's Resurrection.
