20.05.2016 Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Visited Japan

May 15, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, Yury Trutnev together with a group of Russian Government representatives, including the governors of Sakhalin and Khabarovsk Territories paid a 3 days visit to Japan.

May 16, a meeting between Hiroshige Seko, the Japanese deputy chief cabinet secretary, and the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia took place. During the meeting, they exchanged opinions on the question of the development of The Far East of Russia, which is considered to be one of the directions for Russia–Japan cooperation. In addition, Vyacheslav Shport , the governor of Khabarovsk Territory, took part in a working-level meeting with Sojitz Corporation, Marubeni Corporation and Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, aiming developing economic relations with Japan. Among the themes discussed in particular, were the questions of the Khabarovsk Airport renovation and the construction of Methanol plant in Khabarovsk Territory.
